Our 1 year wedding anniversary is just around the corner, so I thought I'd take some time to reminisce. Everyone always shows the pretty day of photos, but let's talk about some of the preparation we go through for our wedding day.
Searching for the right attire. . .
I felt bad forcing my bridesmaids to purchase a $100+ dress that they might hate & never wear again. Then one day I was shopping by myself at H&M & saw this dress. We never even had to go to a bridal salon to try on regular bridesmaid dresses because we decided on this one. In the end, I fell for the pretty floral print, the adorable bow & the colors. Plus, I couldn't beat the excellent H&M price point.

We decided on this affordable H&M floral print dress. |
My matron of honor, Mimi, became pregnant with her beautiful baby girl, Camille. This however meant we needed to ditch her dress that matched the rest of the bridal party in order to accommodate her growing belly.

but decided on this Asos dress. |
In addition to my wedding gown, I needed a traditional Chinese Cheongsam to wear during our Tea Ceremony to honor our parents. (Please, ignore the awesomely expressive face I'm making in the photo). I had my heart set on wearing a vintage blue & ivory floral knee length cheongsam I found on Etsy, but when it arrived, sadly it didn't fit. I ended up finding this long red & gold one instead.
And I can't forget the flower girls. Their dresses were much easier to find. One day I was browsing a Jcrew sale, & found these adorable ivory tiered dresses. I ordered them online, & when then arrived, they were even better in person! The fabric was soft & had give to it, which was great for little girls that want to run & play. I also loved the little button detail on the back of the dress.
Stay tuned to see how everyone's attire looked on our wedding day!!
Oh goodness! I look so unhappy, hahaha. Oh and the awesome mess behind me in picture number two is awesome. Love it, hehe. Real lives of Chicago (super pregnant) housewives.
